Under Profile → My languages you set two things separately:
- Content language: the language you hear and read the places in. It decides which recording is played, and it comes first in the app.
- App language: the language of the app itself: labels, buttons, messages.
The split is deliberate: you can use the app in English and hear the narration in German, or the other way round.
The app language is set to “System” until you choose otherwise. It follows the language your phone is set to and changes with it. If your device language is not one the app speaks, the app appears in English. If you pick a fixed language, it stays until you set it back to “System”.
Lost in a language you cannot read? The way is the same: the last tab at the bottom (the person symbol), then the first row under the heading, then the lower of the two pickers. “System” is at the top there.
A place is not available in your content language? Then the recording in that language is still missing for this place; the app plays the English one.
